Beachcomber’s Spiced Tiki Sangria
Add some tiki flair to your gathering with my nod to the legendary Don the Beachcomber by replicating a homemade version of his classic Don’s Mix.
Step 1 - Create the syrup base in a small sauce pan by combining the water, sugar and spices over medium heat. Simmer and stir to let the sugar dissolve. Once it has reached a syrup consistency, let cool and set aside in a glass jar.
2 cups water
1 cup demerara sugar
1/2 teaspoon whole cloves
Two 3-inch cinnamon sticks
1-inch slice of fresh ginger
Step 2- Combine the ingredients below in a pitcher and let sit in the fridge overnight.
750ml Grenache
½ cup Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum
¼ cup Brandy
¼ cup Triple Sec
⅔ cup fresh white grapefruit juice
⅓ cup spiced syrup
2 navel oranges—peeled and cut (pierce cloves in orange peels and add to batch for an extra kick)
1 diced apple
1 diced pear
Serve in your preferred drinkware over ice.
